Carlo Ancelotti Tips Xabi Alonso for Great Future as Manager

The Spaniard recently announced his retirement from the game at the end of the season.

He has had a spectacular career while playing for the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich. Few players get the chance to play for multiple Champions League winners, but Alonso has had the opportunity of playing for these three clubs, who between them share an incredible 20 European cup titles. Alonso has also been personally successful by lifting the Champions League twice in his career. Few players have managed to win this competition, but Alonso has been successful on two occasions with two different clubs.

Alonso’s contract was running out at the end of the season and it was widely speculated that he would be making the move to a lucrative league like the MLS or the Chinese super league in order to get one final payday. However, he has announced his retirement from the game at just 35 years of age.

Even on a national team level, Alonso has been supremely successful by winning the FIFA World Cup and the European Championship with the Spanish national team. Ancelotti is also someone who experienced immense success as a player before going on to be successful as a manager. He believes that Alonso has the qualities to be a top manager.

"I have to accept his decision. We're losing a quality midfielder. I am happy that I was able to train Xabi. He is a true professional and a wonderful person. We still have three months to work together and I hope we will win titles together. He wants to go on vacation but he has the qualities and the experience to become a fantastic coach in the future," said Ancelotti.
