Philippe Coutinho unsurprised by Liverpool’s recent dominance
The Reds have since won the Champions League crown and they are currently on course to lift their maiden Premier League title. Speaking to reporters, Coutinho said that he is not surprised with the success of his former club and wishes them all the best for the rest of the campaign, he told: “Liverpool is flying, and it doesn’t surprise me. We’ve seen it already last year when it won the Champions League, but I’m also not surprised because of their fantastic squad and manager. I am so happy for them, because I have so many friends there, former teammates–so I’m just so happy for them–but that’s all.”
He added that he does not regret the decision to leave the Merseyside giants in January 2018 and he is focused on reaching his dreams whomever he plays for, he added: “I don’t look back. I took another path, and now I am on another journey, much like everyone else. I’m focused entirely–just like them–on reaching my dreams.”
Coutinho made the move to Barcelona during the winter of 2018 but he fell out-of-favour within 18 months. As such, he made the switch to Bayern on loan this season where he has been impressive with seven goals and eight assists in all competitions. Despite this, he could be heading back to Barcelona during the summer, given Bayern have no plans of triggering a buy clause worth £102m.
According to reports, the Blaugrana are likely to consider his sale during the summer transfer window and there has been the talk of him returning to the Premier League. Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with an interest.
