BAYERN STILL PLOTTING A MOVE FOR HAALAND NEXT SUMMER
Although it looks like German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have been able to ward off interest from other clubs for their star striker Erling Haaland, it is believed that the idea is for the interested parties to allow the striker to play for at least one more season with the BVB before coming back to try to sign him next summer.
Dortmund indeed were very stubborn in their decision to keep hold of Haaland and had to reject transfer approaches from several clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester City this summer. After already selling Haaland's former teammate Jadon Sancho, the German outfit remained insistent that they would not be selling another star player in the same window.
Manchester United, the club that eventually signed Sancho, are one of the favorites to sign Haaland but they refused to make a bid for the Norway international striker as they believed that Dortmund would not agree to sell the two stars this summer. There are rumors that United have made Dortmund know that they are going to retain an interest in Haaland and will return for him next summer when his £65 million release clause would be activated and ready to be triggered by any of his interested suitors.
Bayern Munich, Dortmund's bitter rivals, are also one of the numerous clubs that are willing to sign Haaland but they are going to be very reluctant to sell to their direct rivals. Bayern are reportedly waiting in the wings to find out whether or not they will be allowed to make a move for the player and are also ready to jump on the chance if it becomes available.
Haaland has once said that he would not play for Bayern but it's football and no one knows what may happen, especially after the crazy summer transfer window that has unfolded so far.
