CITY AHEAD OF BAYERN FOR ANTONY
Premier League champions Manchester City are favourites to land highly rated Ajax Amsterdam winger Antony ahead of other big European sides such asBayern Munich, Barcelona and AS Monaco.
Media outlet El Nacional revealed that Manchester City are ahead of Bayern Munich and others as manager Pep Guardiola is keen to sign him despite the summer arrival of Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.
Manchester City made Grealishthe most expensive player in Premier League when they paid the £100m release clause in his contract in the summer.
The aforementioned report stated that Guardiola recommended Brazilian international Antony to Barcelona president Joan Laportaa few weeks ago and that the Manchester City manager has decided to secure the signing of the player ahead of other interested clubs like Monaco, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Antony has been a revelation for an Ajax Amsterdam side who have been impressive in both the Dutch Eredivisie and the Champions League this season. He recently scored one of the goals against German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund as Ajax Amsterdam maintained their perfect start to the Champions League group stage this season. The Dutch Eredivisie champions ran out 4-0 winners at home to Dortmund in their latest Champions League outing.
Barcelona could not make a move for potentially expensive signings such as Antony mainly due to their financial issues. The Catalans signed a lot of free transfers in the summer with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia and Memphis Depayjoining the club.
Ajax Amsterdam and Barcelona have a very good relationship as regards the transfer of players but the Catalans won't be able to do much for Antony without the necessary finance required for the transfer with the likes of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Monaco on the trail of the Brazilian national team player.
