DIFFICULT MATCH

Bayern Munich could have a very tough match on their hands at the Santiago Bernabeu according to the Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who has spoken of this crucial match between the two clubs.

Matches between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have been one of the most frequent in the Champions League history.

Bayern Munich won their first league match against Real Madrid after a late goal from striker Mario Gomez. The 2-1 victory now means that Bayern Munich can play for a draw at the Santiago Bernabeu without having to be too adventurous in attack. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, though, believes that it will be very difficult for Bayern Munich because Real Madrid are playing at home.

Franck Ribery gave the advantage for Bayern Munich early in the first half, but it turned out to be advantage for Real Madrid after they secured an equaliser from Mesut Ozil.

José Mourinho his manager who always looks towards getting away goals. The Portuguese manager was extremely happy with the goal from Ozil. It would have meant that Real Madrid could go to the second leg match knowing that a draw would be enough. However, a late goal from Mario Gomez changed the entire scenario leaving Real Madrid with the need to win in their home patch.

"We have great respect for Real, but no fear, even if we are expecting hell in the Bernabeu stadium. The last-minute goal has given us a small chance, but it will be incredibly difficult. We have to concentrate fully and put a tight performance in defence. We have to try and put pinpricks in their defence to get a goal. Sitting back and defending won't achieve anything against such a strong attacking side," Rummenigge told SID ahead of the second leg encounter between the two sides at the Santiago Bernabeu.
