JUPP WILL CONTINUE
Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness has confirmed that Jupp Heynckes' position as the manager of the club will not change despite finishing as the runners up in three different competitions.
Bayern Munich finished in the second position in the domestic league to Dortmund, while they also suffered a 5-2 loss at the hands of their league rivals in the DFB Cup. The Champions League final against Chelsea offered them the only chance to win the title that would save their season.
However, they had many chances to win the match against Chelsea, but threw them all and ended up losing 4-3 on penalties. This is the second Champions League final defeat they have suffered in three years.
It was expected that Bayern Munich will sacked their manager Jupp Heynckes after this disastrous season.
However, president Uli Hoeness is expected to confirm that he will remain as the manager for the final year of his contract. Jupp Heynckes is regarded as one of the greatest managers in the history of German football. He is only second in the list when it comes to the most a number of Bundesliga games managed. Yet, he was unable to prevent Bayern Munich from collapsing in every single competition this season. It is also the second consecutive season without a trophy for Bayern Munich.
"Why would he leave? He has a contract. He will stay whatever happens," said the president Uli Hoeness. "I have a contract until 2013. If anything changes, we will let you know," said the manager in response to this backing from the president. Bayern Munich are expected to make some changes in the first team in order to make them more competitive in the league. A few players will be released from their contracts, which will be followed by a few arrivals.
