Callum Hudson-Odoi could yet remain with Chelsea – Sky Sports reporter
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has indicated that Callum Hudson-Odoi could stay put with Chelsea beyond the ongoing transfer window despite the interest from Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig. The England youth international has already been the subject of multiple transfer offers from Bayern during the ongoing transfer window but so far, the Blues have remained reluctant to sanction the teenager’s sale.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Sheth revealed that the Blues are yet to respond to Bayern’s third offer of more than £30m for the uprising star. He added that the west London club want the inclusion of a buy-back clause into a permanent transfer, although the youngster could yet commit his long-term future to the former Premier League champions.
He quipped: ““We’re told Bayern Munich are still awaiting a response from their latest bid worth more than £30m“. RB Leipzig remain interested and would comply with the buyback clause Chelsea want. Hudson-Odoi’s preferred destination is Bayern. But another source has told me not to “rule out the player“signing a new contract at Chelsea. His current deal has 18 months to run.”
Hudson-Odoi had shown plenty of promise during the club’s pre-season tour of Asia and there had been the suggestion that the youngster could become a regular feature during the current campaign. However, that has simply not been the case and the Englishman has managed just one league appearance for the club through the first half of the season.
Nonetheless, he could get more opportunities during the backend with the Blues still alive across four competitions, although it remains to be seen whether the gametime is sufficient enough to keep him content. At the moment, the Blues have not responded to Bayern’s latest offer for their graduate and they may maintain the stance during the forthcoming weeks with the lack of attacking depth within their squad.
