BAYERN CHASE LUIZ

Bayern Munich have been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea defender David Luiz in the last few weeks especially after the arrival of Pep Guardiola. The former Barcelona manager is known to be fan of the Brazilian and he is prepared to bring the former Benfica man to the Allianz Arena before the end of the transfer window.

Luiz was a £ 21 million signing for Chelsea only two years ago in 2011. However, it is believed that Bayern Munich are willing to pay in excess of £ 40 million for the 26-year-old, who has the ability to play in a variety of positions.

Even though he is primarily a central defender, Luiz can also play as the full-back, defensive midfielder, and quite possibly as an attacking midfielder as well. He has the ability to score from corners and set pieces with his head and impressive freekick taking abilities, and has also been linked with manchester united. This wide array of skills is thought to have convinced Guardiola that it is enough to pay a world record transfer fee for a defender. Chelsea, though, have been adamant that they would not sell the player.

Guardiola has finally admitted that Luiz will not be coming to the Allianz Arena. He has stated that Bayern Munich already have a number of players in his position.
"David Luiz will not be coming to Munich. I have four, five central defenders who I am very pleased with. There are no excuses for that defeat. We have seen how hard it is to win all the time. We didn't have Franck [Ribéry] and he is a very important player for us. It hurt us that he could not play," said the former Barcelona manager after the 4-2 defeat to archrivals Borussia Dortmund in his first competitive match in the German Super Cup.
