NOT SELLING
The manager of Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola, has made it clear that he has not planned to sell Mario Mandzukic next summer.
This is Mandzukic’s second season at Bayern Munich. His performance for the club has been good so far and he is a regular member of Guardiola’s starting XI. He has scored 25 goals in the 40 league appearance that he has made for the German giants in the last one and half years.
But since Robert Lewandowski is arriving to Allianz Arena at the end of the ongoing season, Mandzukic might fall a bit down the pecking order. So, there had been speculations that both the club and the player might be willing to part ways next summer, but, according to Guardiola, there is nothing like that.
Talking to the reporters a couple of days ago, the Bayern Munich manager said, “Mario is one of the vital guys for us. He finds the net on a regular basis and we don’t have any reason to put him on sale. There are still a couple of years for his contract to finish and he is comfortable here. He has the desire to continue playing for Bayern Munich and win big trophies.”
There have been interests from all around the world for Mandzukic. The English club Arsenal and the Italian club Juventus are believed to be the most interested, but, Guardiola’s statements suggest that they might not be able to secure the services of the Croatian winger.
Meanwhile, Ivan Cvjetkovic who is the agent of Mandzukic also said yesterday that his client has no problems whatsoever at Bayern at the moment.
Bayern Munich had to pay 13 million Euros to the German club VfL Wolfsburg to land Mandzukic at Allianz Arena.
