NOTHING TO LOSE
Bayern Munich defender Holger Badstuber has said that the players of Bayern Munich do not have nothing to lose in the second leg encounter with Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich came away from the first leg after having defeated Real Madrid 2-1 after a late goal from Mario Gomez.
This significant advantage now means that Bayern Munich can play for a draw at the Santiago Bernabeu when the second leg match between the two clubs takes place next week. Ribery opened the scoring for Bayern Munich after a difficult first few minutes for the home team.
Real Madrid were on top of the home team in the first 10 min of the match, but Ribery scored an important goal for the home team from a corner. Following their goal, Bayern Munich started to play with more confidence and went on to the half-time break with the lead intact.
However, Real Madrid managed to score an away goal shortly after the restart in the second half through Ozil. Bayern Munich managed to keep out Real Madrid in the first two attempts, but could not do anything to prevent the third attempt from the German international. Just when it seemed that Bayern Munich were going to provide a sizeable advantage to Real Madrid as a result of this 1-1 draw, Mario Gomez scored at the death to change the entire scenario.
"Real didn't create many chances. We kept them quiet pretty well. We travel to Madrid full of confidence. We have nothing to lose in the return. It was a great game.
Everybody was really eager to get a good result, and that was clear right from the start. I think that we were the better team, and deserved the victory," Badstuber said after the 2-1 win over Spanish opponents Real Madrid in the first leg.
Bayern are now odds-on to qualify for the second final in three years according to the football bets markets.
