Pep Guardiola has claimed that he had never seen anything
Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola has claimed that he had never seen anything like the display provided by Robert Lewandowski in the recent game against Wolfsburg.
The striker came off the bench to score 5 goals in the space of just nine minutes. He has said numerous records along the way.
Even though there have been occasions where players have scored five goals in a game, Guardiola says that he has never seen a player do it in such a quick manner. The striker could have even scored two more had it not been for some easy chances that went begging.
The match was seen as a huge contest given that there was little separating the two teams in the Bundesliga table.
After several years, the German league is experiencing a real title challenge with both Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg enjoying a good run of form at the start of the campaign, though the latest odds on the Ladbrokes app seem to suggest Bayern will romp home with it easily in the end.
Bayern appear to have just destroyed one of their title challengers after a brilliant 5-1 demolition job. Even opposition manager Dieter Hecking was in admiration of the display shown by Lewandowski. It is rare that opposition managers praises strikers and it remains as the ultimate accolade that a player could get after a game.
"I've never experienced such a thing, either as coach or as a player.Five goals in nine minutes. I am very happy for Robert. You play poorly for 45 minutes and then grab five goals in nine minutes. I cannot explain it," said Guardiola."What can I say? A world-class striker shot five times on goal and could have scored seven. That is how it happened. But with our quality this should not happen. We had a good first half and Bayern could not up the pace of the game and then came these nine minutes,” said Hecking.
